Until Dec. 7, current Medicare beneficiaries can re-evaluate part of their Medicare coverage and compare it against all other plans on the market. Alternatively, the Open Enrollment Period for purchasing coverage through state exchanges is shorter than previous years. People wishing to purchase coverage for 2018 through an exchange may only do so from Nov. 1-Dec. 15. Encourage older adults to get started early and plan ahead for unexpected periods of downtime on exchange websites.
