Today was a fantastic day! Sun was shining and women from across Oklahoma gathered at the OK History Museum to network, hear candidates for Governor, and visit legislators at the State Capitol. Click here for some pics.
While at the Capitol, we shared our position to support funding for Domestic Violence Services and on HB 2998 which passed the House today, 92-0! This legislation creates a pilot program that seeks to establish reentry and diversion programs to allow nonviolent offender mothers to receive community-based services in lieu of incarceration. Unfortunately, Oklahoma has the dubious honor of being #1 in incarcerated women. We’re hoping to change that! I look forward to the day when Oklahoma is ranked the best state in America for women. I hope you will join us in making that happen. Visit www.oklahomawomenscoalition.org.
