PRESENTATION SUMMARY
Sandy Ingraham – Ethical and Legal Issues Related to Estate and End-of Life Planning strategies and tactics to help older people, their caregivers and service providers ethically and legally accomplish effective estate planning and make end-of-life choices and decisions. Ethical and Legal Issues Related to Estate and End-of Life Planning will target adults facing memory loss or in its early stages, their family, caregivers and service providers. The session will provide an overview of capacity, its evaluation, documentation and impact on estate planning options and ethics. It will cover a variety of estate planning tactics, strategies and tools, usable in a variety of situations to help older people assure that their own wishes are carried out.
Vicki Escajeda – Dementia 101 will target anyone caregiving for or working with a confused senior adult. The session will provide an overview of possible reasons for confusion and the dementing illnesses. It will cover practical coping strategies to help caregivers manage difficult behaviors and understand why they occur.
Paula Avery – Program will review the many emotions caregivers experience and the various ways in which caregivers can manage such emotions. Objective is for caregivers to learn new ways of coping with emotions and strategies to help them reduce stress, normalize feelings, and find more productive ways of coping so that they can be healthier caregivers.
