HUD issued a request for information (RFI), seeking public input regarding the accessibility and usability of its programs. Most of HUD’s programs are administered by recipients of HUD funding, such as state and local governments, public housing agencies, and non-profit housing providers, who collect and process information to determine or maintain program eligibility. The RFI notes that this paperwork may create time-, effort- and financial-related burdens that disproportionately impact vulnerable populations trying to access HUD-subsidized housing. Through this RFI, HUD seeks input on reducing administrative burdens for HUD-funded programs, such as solutions to simplify application and eligibility forms, reduce the burden for vulnerable groups, and share data responsibly among federal agencies and the public. This RFI builds on HUD’s recent efforts to streamline and improve its programs. Interested parties may respond to the RFI through August 12.
