The U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration acting as Lead Federal Agency for the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 4601 et seq. (URA), is proposing to amend and update 49 CFR Part 24, the government-wide federal regulations for implementing the URA.

Required in part by Section 1521 of the MAP-21 (Public Law 112-141, July 6, 2012), the proposed changes to this regulation:

  • Clarify existing regulatory requirements for implementing the URA
  • Meet modern needs
  • Improve service to individuals and businesses affected by federal or federally assisted projects

The proposed regulatory changes will impact HUD funded programs and projects. HUD grantees, funding recipients and stakeholders are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed regulations for its potential impacts on HUD funded programs and projects.

The proposed regulation is available for viewing and comment on the Federal Register website.

Comments due by: March 17, 2020
