Customer Service – Meeting Needs

Dr. George E. Young, Sr. will provide insight into some of the challenges of connecting citizens to resources. Experience as a minister, Human Services Commission member, student, and community leader has allowed him to serve and to make a positive difference in the lives of people with humility and faith.

This lecture is co-hosted with the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) who will focus on thanking faith-based and community groups who are addressing social service needs. OFBCI will spotlight Novo Ministries who serves inner-city children with mentors and positive teaching through a collaboration of partnerships with a variety of groups including local congregations, businesses, and the Oklahoma City Housing Authority.

About the Speaker

Rev. George Young Sr.Governor Brad Henry appointed George E. Young, Sr. to the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services for a term that expires August 2011. Dr. Young is also the pastor at Holy Temple Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He holds a Master of Divinity degree and doctorate in ministry from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa. He holds certificates in church administration and counseling.

Dr. Young has served as a board member of the Red Cross of Central Oklahoma, Leadership Oklahoma, United Way of Greater Oklahoma City, Phillips Theological University, Latino Community Development Agency, Areawide Agency on Aging, Citizen’s League of Central Oklahoma and Shiloh Youth Camp for the Eagle Ridge Institute.

Dr. Young is a 2002 graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City and graduated from Leadership Oklahoma in December 2005. He participated in the 1999 Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy.

Dr. Young is a trainer and instructor for the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program for the Oklahoma Marriage Initiative and the Becoming Parents Program. He has contributed to Raising Your Child Together: A Guide for Unmarried Parents and Marriage Matters: A Guide for Louisiana Couples for the Office of Family Support, Louisiana Department of Human Services.
